There were injury updates, news of a suspension and more as preseason camp kicked of Monday morning for coach Matt Rhule's first Nebraska football squad.
Rhule said after practice that safety Myles Farmer was suspended before camp and is not the 120-man camp roster.
The suspension was "just for simple things, nothing major," Rhule said. "Just some of our standards." Asked when Farmer might return to the team, Rhule said "we'll see."
"It's just kind of day-by-day," Rhule said. "I love Myles. He's a competitive kid. It's so hard when you have a new coach and they have different standards than you're used to, so I get that. ... The ball's in his court. We'd love him to be here, but whatever he wants to do, I respect him as a man."
Other status and injury updates from the coach included:
- Wide receiver Marcus Washington broke a bone in his right hand over the summer, but he should be a full participant in practices starting next week.
- Defensive lineman Brodie Tagaloa is likely out for season after injuring a knee in an auto accident.
- Transfer receiver Joshua Fleeks reported to camp but was sent home to make weight.
