Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie slammed Donald Trump for his third indictment, calling the former president a “one-man crime wave.”

Appearing on Pod Save America, Christie discussed the likely charges that Trump is facing for his role in the Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021. Trump was charged last week in the investigation led by Special Counsel Jack Smith.

“Usually, folks like this commit discrete crimes and wind up having one trial. This guy has been a one-man crime wave,” said Christie.

Trump, the leading GOP presidential candidate, is already facing two other criminal cases: a 37-count indictment for wilful retention of national security information, and another on state charges in New York related to hush-money payments made to an adult film star in 2016.

“He’s earned every one of them,” Christie said about Trump’s legal woes. “If you look at it, every one of these is self-inflicted.”

“And that’s why, do I think that prosecutors exercise prosecutorial judgment in some respects that are questionable? Yeah, and they always have,” Christie continued. “But what I say to people all the time is whether you agree or disagree with the prosecutors, look at the underlying conduct.”

Since announcing his bid for president in June, Christie has established himself as one of Trump’s most vocal Republican critics. Despite his efforts, he is only receiving about 3% support in national polling averages, placing seventh in the primary field.
