KANEOHE BAY, Hawaii – Cmdr. Brian Mowry, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, serves with Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 37, operating out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The squadron’s primary mission is to conduct sea control operations in open-ocean and coastal environments. This includes hunting for submarines, searching for surface targets over the horizon and conducting search and rescue operations.

Mowry, a 1993 North Allegheny High School graduate, joined the Navy 28 years ago.

“When I was in college at Penn State decided I wanted to do something bigger and make a new path for my life,” said Mowry. “I always wanted to serve my country so I joined the Navy. I joined the Navy to serve as a rescue swimmer and naval aircrewman.”
