Football: Furuhashi nets as Celtic open season with 2 straight wins

Japan forward Kyogo Furuhashi scored for the second straight game on Sunday as champions Celtic beat Aberdeen 3-1 away to open the Scottish Premiership season with two wins from two.

Furuhashi made it 2-1 in the 29th minute at Pittodrie Stadium after an Aberdeen defender's headed pass back to their goalkeeper fell short, allowing the last season's top scorer to take a touch before firing home from inside the box.

Fellow Japan forward Daizen Maeda nodded down a free-kick to set up Liel Abada's 11th-minute opener before Bojan Miovski steered in the leveler for the home side in the 25th minute. Matt O'Riley completed the scoring in the 84th minute.

In the Netherlands, striker Koki Ogawa scored on his NEC Nijmegen debut in the Eredivisie, but his side fell to a late 4-3 defeat to Excelsior.

The former Yokohama FC man headed in a corner on the hour mark to give his side a 3-2 lead before the visitors leveled and Oscar Uddenas scored the winner in the 10th minute of stoppage time.

In France, Takumi Minamino set up a goal as Monaco came from behind to win 4-2 at Clermont in the Ligue 1 opener.

The former Liverpool attacker helped Vanderson score in the 26th minute to make it 1-1 after he sent a low ball across the face of the goal for the Brazilian to tap in.

Minamino's turn and cross led to Wissam Ben Yedder's second goal of the day and a 3-2 lead in the 70th minute as Monaco went on to secure all three points in their first league match under new manager Adolf Hutter, who coached Minamino at Salzburg.

"My role has become clear and I have no confusion now heading into games," said Minamino, who warmed the bench for a large spell last term following his transfer from England in the summer.
