EVERY GENERATION OF DODGE VIPER LINES UP FOR ONE EPIC DRAG RACE

In 2017, Dodge killed the Viper after the fifth generation. But, despite having done that, there’s still a large fanbase surrounding the car. After all, with a naturally aspirated V10, what’s not to love about this American sports car? That said, from 1991 to 2017, there have been many changes to the car, which begs the question. Which one is the fastest? CarWow that lined up each generation of the beloved sports car to see which is the fastest.

Dodge couldn’t be bothered by any active safety trickery for the first generations. This meant the ABS and launch control weren’t available for the older model of the Viper. That means the driver must rely on their skills when abusing the right pedal, regardless of whether it’s a quarter-mile spring against a different ride or around a local racetrack. Throughout the different generations of the Dodge Viper, the car retailed its rear-wheel drive and naturally aspirated V10 recipe. Though, there was an occasional boost in power and tweaks in visuals and mechanics.

What Is The Quickest Dodge Viper?

Unfortunately, despite having each generation of the Dodge Viper on a track, Mat Watson only launched them to sixty miles per hour to find out which one could reach the fastest speed. You’ll have to watch the video for yourself to see which is the quickest but fret not, as the over thirty minutes of Viper action is sprinkled with each generation’s magic numbers, including output, torque, acceleration, and more. Time is also dedicated to discussions with each car’s owners to uncover precisely what each one likes most about their legendary Viper.

While rumors have been circulating regarding a comeback of the Dodge Viper with an entirely new generation, it’s still being determined if that will ever come to pass. By now, it should be clear that the performance company is putting all its chips into electrification, or at the very least, more federal regulation-compliant vehicles. So, a turbocharged V10 won’t be in the picture should the legendary car return. That said, an electric Dodge Viper could make its way to the market, but try not to get your hopes up as Dodge has yet to show any intention of bringing back the nameplate, at least not anytime soon.
