Lourdes Leon Pays Tribute To Mom Madonna’s ‘Frozen’ Music Video

Lourdes Leon recreates mom Madonn's hit

Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, recreated her mother’s iconic “Frozen” music video for her new track “Spelling.”

Leon released the video under her stage name, Lolahol. Leon channels her inner witch, and fronts multiple shot-for-shot references to her mother’s 1998 music video.

Both Madonna and Leon’s videos end with the performers with contortionists beside them. While Madonna’s video saw the singer’s costars as different versions of her, Leon’s video features a backup crew made up of different performers.

Madonna, who co-parents Lourdes with her ex Carlos Leon, released the album Ray of Light in 1998, which was largely inspired by her shift in worldview after her daughter was born in 1996. In the electronic ballad “Frozen,” Madonna tries to get through to a cold lover as they freeze her out.

Leon appeared in several video interludes that played as part of Madonna’s Madame X tour in 2019 and collaborated with her mother on the 2012 song “Superstar” from Madonna’s MDNA album.

Over the summer, Madonna had a bacterial infection health scare and was forced to postpone her upcoming Celebration world tour.

In an Instagram post, Madonna expressed her gratitude for her children’s support, “As a mother, you can really get caught up in the needs of your children and the seemingly endless giving… but when the chips were down, my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference.”

Lourdes kicked off her solo music career in 2022 with the Lolahol single “Lock & Key.” She recently performed to packed crowds at the Madrid Music Festival.
