Megan Thee Stallion is funding her own career.
The 28-year-old rap star has enjoyed massive success in the music industry over the last seven years but is currently without a label so is footing the bill herself for all of her upcoming projects.
Speaking in an Instagram Live, she said: “I have no label right now. We’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion pockets. So, the budget is coming from me. Motherf****** hot girl productions. We in my pockets, hotties, so let's do our big one!"
However, the 'Sweetest Pie' hitmaker - who was previously signed to 300 Entertainment and 1501 Entertainment - went on to add that she is "so excited" to be on her own for the first time in her career and has no intention of seeking a new record label.
She said: "I’m so excited to be doing something for the first time independent since it was just me and my mama. So excited cause it’s really just me this go 'round until we sign to a new label, but I don’t wanna sign to a new label right now because I just wanna do it myself."
Megaan - whose real name is Megan Pete - has been in a legal battle with 1501 Entertainment for a number of years, having sought $1 million as she had alleged she had fulfiled the requirements of her "unconscionable" contract and later claimed they were stopping her from making more music.
By contrast, 1501 Certified Entertainment insists that Megan's 'Something For Thee Hotties' compilation does not constitute an album, meaning she's yet to fulfil the terms of her contract with the company.
But now, a judge has insisted that the case should proceed to a trial.
Rolling Stone reports that Megan's response filing read: "Pete should be allowed her day in court to present evidence and testimony to the jury demonstrating that she has done all that was required of her in the delivery and release of her albums."
