Actress Suzanne Somers died at 5:30 a.m. on October 15 from breast cancer that metastasized to the brain.
A biopsy of the cancer was done to confirm the ruling, but no autopsy was performed.
There were other hidden conditions found in her body, which included hypertension and hydrocephalus, a buildup of fluid in the brain.
The Three’s Company star had battled the disease for over 20 years and died just one day away from her 77th birthday.
Her death certificate indicated that Somers had suffered from hydrocephalus for over a year.
Her publicist, R. Couri Hay, announced in a statement to uInterview: “Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years.”
“Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family,” the statement continued. “Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly.”
Three days after Somers’ death, a funeral service was held at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, California.
The burial was conducted by a Palm Springs-based funeral home near her longtime residence.
First diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, Somers had been very open about her health problems over the years. She experienced several other forms of cancer throughout her life.
An actress, author and businesswoman in the health and wellness field, Somers gained fame for her notable television roles such as Chrissy Snow in Three’s Company and Carol Foster Lambert in Step by Step.
Somers died just hours after she read a love poem written to her by her husband Alan Hamel.
