Ever since the Ford Mustang was introduced as the original pony car, it has captured the hearts of many car enthusiasts. While things are very different from all those years ago, there remains a demand for the classic muscle car, though perhaps with more power added under the hood for more fun. What better company to create such a vehicle than Ringbrothers, who have recently brought a Mustang to its stand at the 2023 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
Ringbrothers 1965 Ford Mustang ‘Uncaged’: Details
The 1965 Ford Mustang restomod from Ringbrothers has been dubbed the Uncaged, and it’s a follow-up to the custom Mustang coupe, named “Caged,” that shares similar styling inside and out. The Ringbrothers Uncaged Mustang features a wide-body design with panels shaped to blend seamlessly with the original car’s fantastic looks, creating a flow across the magnificent creation. Every panel on the car was customized to fit the wide-body design, adding around an inch to each side of the vehicle.
The entire car has been redesigned, with the only original elements being the wheel center caps, which means signature Mustang elements like the taillight bezels and horse logo are custom pieces designed to match the new proportions of the vehicle. New suspension components were added to the car, such as Penske Racing Shocks, RS Edition coilovers at the front and rear, and a new independent rear suspension system. The wheels are 18 inches and were designed by EVOD Industries to resemble the original Mustang’s Rally wheel pattern. Those are wrapped in Continental tires, and tucked just behind all that is a set of Baer brakes featuring 6-piston calipers and 14.0-inch rotors at the front and rear.
Sean Smith Designs designed the inside of the 1965 Ford Mustang Uncaged, and it features leather trim installed by Upholstery Unlimited. The gauges come from Dakota Digital, while the steering wheel is a custom design that Ringrbothers said pays homage to the original Mustang’s interior. Ringbrothers stated that the build took over 4,000 hours to complete, as it’s entirely custom, but the excitement doesn’t stop there. Ringbrothers scrapped the original engine that came with this beautiful car and replaced it with a modern 5.0L Coyote V8, which produces 460 horsepower mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. That gives this classic even more power than it ever had when it first rolled off the assembly line.
