President Biden: 4-Year-Old Hostage Abigail Edan Released, Now In Israel

President Joe Biden spoke to the nation today from the White Elephant Hotel in Nantucket, addressing the recent release of hostages, including 4-year-old Abigail Edan, from Gaza.

Abigail Edan, one of the 13 hostages released on Sunday, is now in Israel, according to President Biden. He empathized with her, acknowledging the “terrible trauma” she endured during the ordeal. “What she endured is unthinkable,” he remarked.

“We will not stop working until every hostage is returned to their loved ones,” Biden made the pledge to Americans.

The President highlighted his recent diplomatic efforts in the Middle East and expressed gratitude to Qatar’s Emir for playing a role in the resolution of the hostage situation. He voiced optimism about the potential extension of the pause in hostilities, cautioning that it’s a “day-by-day approach” and “hour by hour, nothing is guaranteed.”

In his concluding remarks, President Biden expressed relief and gratitude, stating, “Thank God she is home,” referring to Abigail Edan.

During the subsequent question and answer session, President Biden was asked about the release of other Americans. He responded, “I don’t have anything firmly to tell you at this moment.”

When asked about using the situation to extend the pause in fighting, President Biden indicated a sense that regional players are seeking a resolution.

“I get a sense that all the players in the region are looking for a way to end this so the hostages are all released and Hamas is completely no longer in control of any portion of Gaza.”

Addressing Abigail’s condition, he admitted not having specific information but confirmed she was “safely ensconced in Israel.”

Pressed on the duration of the pause in fighting, President Biden replied, “As long as prisoners keep coming out.”
