Nebraska Volleyball Earns Top Overall Seed for NCAA Tournament

Nebraska volleyball can continue playing at home for the next couple weekends.

The Huskers are the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The other No. 1 seeds are Stanford 2, Wisconsin 3 and Pitt 4.

No. 1 seeds will host the first two weekends of the NCAA Tournament with the Semifinals and Final taking place in Tampa Bay.

Nebraska will open the postseason against Long Island Friday at 8 pm CST. The Sharks went 13-18 on the season but won the Northeast Conference Tournament by upsetting the top two seeds. The other two teams in Lincoln for the first and second rounds are Missouri (8) and Delaware, who face off Friday at 5:30 pm CST.

Winners will meet Saturday at 8 pm CST.

Other seeded teams in the Nebraska Quarter are Kentucky (2), Arkansas (3), Florida (4), Georgia Tech (5), Florida State (6), and James Madison (7).

If the higher seeded team wins each round, Nebraska's road to the national championship would feature Long Island, Missouri, Florida, Kentucky, and Pitt. Stanford and Wisconsin are on the other side of the bracket.

The schedule for the NCAA Tournament is below.

  • First and second rounds: Thursday-Friday, Nov. 30-Dec. 1 OR Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 2-3
  • Regionals: Thursday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 9
  • Semifinals: Thursday, Dec. 14
  • National Championship: Sunday, Dec. 17
