Air Serbia Achieves Record-Breaking Milestone With 4 Million Passengers In 2023

In a fitting year-end celebration, Air Serbia, the national carrier of Serbia, has reached a historic milestone, marking its highest achievement since its establishment in 1927. December witnessed the welcoming of the 4-millionth passenger for the year 2023, setting a new annual record for the airline since its rebranding. The milestone passenger, Viktorija L., was warmly greeted at Belgrade airport’s check-in desk by Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek.

To commemorate this significant occasion, the fortunate passenger received a generous gift voucher for two complimentary return tickets in the luxurious business class, redeemable for any of the 80 destinations within Air Serbia’s extensive network.

Air Serbia’s CEO, Jiri Marek, expressed pride in the airline’s remarkable growth, surpassing 4 million passengers in a single year for the first time since 2013. Marek highlighted that the year-end tally is expected to climb even higher, making 2023 a pivotal year in the carrier’s 97-year history. To put this achievement into perspective, Marek noted that the last instances of surpassing 4 million passengers occurred in 1987 and 1988.

The remarkable success of Air Serbia can be attributed to a meticulously crafted business strategy, involving the expansion of the destination network, fleet upgrades, and the strengthening of cabin and flight crew capabilities. In 2023 alone, the national airline introduced 23 new destinations, with particular emphasis on Chicago—the third long-haul destination and the second in the United States. Throughout the year, Air Serbia operated nearly 43,000 scheduled and charter flights.

Looking ahead, Air Serbia has ambitious plans for the coming year, intending to further develop its fleet and expand its destination network. The airline’s commitment to strategic growth and unwavering dedication to passenger satisfaction position it as a key player in the aviation industry, setting the stage for continued success in the years to come.
