Mauga was the focus of a patch — again — as developers to continue to balance the powerful tank hero.
There has been controversy surrounding the Samoan tank ever since he was released earlier this month. He was seen as a bit OP when he first dropped, with players concerned ahead of his competitive arrival due to the amount of damage he does while being quite aggressive.
He was nerfed a week in, with developers lowering his weapon damage and tweaking his ultimate. But apparently it wasn’t enough.

Mauga is the main focus of the Overwatch 2 patch notes. Here are the changes to the powerful tank.
Mauga
- Mauga is now available in Competitive Play for players who unlocked him
- Base health decreased from 350 to 250
- Base armor increased from 150 to 250
Incendiary and Volatile Chainguns

- Spread decreased from 1.1 to 1 when only one Chaingun is active
