THE NEW 2024 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER SOLD OUT IN JUST 30 MINUTES

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that the all-new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, with its smaller stature compared to the 300 series and step back towards its roots, would be a smash hit. But we doubt anyone would have suspected the SUV to be so successful that it sold out in Germany in just 30 minutes. That’s one every two seconds.

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Sell Out: Details

Toyota Germany opened up reservations for the all-new hybrid Land Cruiser at 8 AM on December 21, and Toyota had to close the system down 30 minutes later. The entire German allocation of 1,000 units had been spoken for, though Toyota Germany has since opened a new portal for customers to get their names on a waiting list in case one of the reservation spots opens up; though, you should probably gather your lucky pennies to increase your chances of that happening.

Since Germans tend to opt for smaller vehicles and home brands like Volkswagen, the top-selling vehicle is the Golf, followed by the Tiguan and the T-Roc. This is why this quick take on the Toyota Land Cruiser is so surprising, and that’s just for one country; we can only imagine how big of a success this vehicle will be in other countries, especially Australia and the United States, where off-roading is the name of the game and SUVs and trucks reign supreme.

Why is this new Land Cruiser taking Europe by storm? That’s likely thanks to a few things, such as its retro styling and the estimated combined fuel economy of 27 mpg, which is impressive for a full-size SUV. By comparison, Germany still has access to the Land Cruiser Prado, better known here as the previous-generation Lexus GX, equipped with a 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel.

As for the USA, reservations for the new Land Cruiser have not yet opened, but with an arrival time around spring of 2024, we can expect Toyota to extend the reservation portal sometime in the coming weeks. It’ll be prudent to keep a watchful eye out for this as only 5,000 units of the highly desirable First Edition will be available.
