A key witness in a special CBI court pointed to JKLF chief Yasin Malik as the primary shooter in the 1990 Indian Air Force (IAF) attack in Srinagar. The incident, which occurred on January 25, 1990, at Rawalpora on the outskirts of Srinagar, resulted in the death of four IAF personnel, including a squadron leader, and left 22 others injured.

Rajwar Umeshwar Singh, a former IAF staffer and a crucial witness for the prosecution, positively identified Yasin Malik as the main shooter during the attack, reported the Daily Exclesior. Malik was presented before the court through a video link from Delhi’s Tihar Jail, where he has been held in custody for several years.

“This is an important development in the case. The prosecution witness has identified Malik as the man behind the shooting,” stated Senior Public Prosecutor for CBI, Monika Kohli.

The CBI has been actively pursuing the case, and with this identification by a key witness, the trial is expected to gain momentum.

The 1990 IAF attack has been a long-standing investigation, and the identification of Yasin Malik as the main shooter adds a crucial dimension to the case.
