Chevrolet has been expanding its off-road adventure-ready offerings by bringing the ZR2 trim to the heavy-duty Silverado lineup. This has provided customers with exceptional capability behind the wheel of their trucks without sacrificing the ever-important towing capacity. But the brand isn’t stopping there; a Silverado HD Trail Boss is on the way, and it will slot between the Z71 and ZR2 trims.
2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD Trail Boss: Details
The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD Trail Boss will come equipped with the Z71 off-road package, which includes specially tuned shocks and a suspension system designed for enhanced off-road performance. The vehicle will feature blacked-out front and rear bumpers, trim, badges, and specific Trail Boss bed decals to help this version of the heavy-duty truck stand out from the rest. It also includes red recovery hooks for when the driver gets into a bind. As for what connects the overall pickup to the ground, 20-inch black wheels with AT Goodyear tires wrapped around them will provide plenty of traction when on a trail.
However, this particular package is little more than skin deep. Chevrolet has decided not to equip the Silverado HD Trail Boss with any additional clearance or suspension lift, unlike the Silverado 1500 Trail Boss. As for engine options, customers will have two engines available to choose from. The standard Silverado HD Trail Boss option is the 6.6L Gasoline V8, which produces 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. The other option is the 6.6L Duramax Diesel Engine, which delivers 470 horsepower to the wheels and 975 lb-ft of torque and is also paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing for the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD Trail Boss is not yet announced, though it’ll slot somewhere around the $60,000 range thanks to its position between the Z71 and ZR2 trims. The Silverado 2500 HD Custom 4WD with the Z71 off-road package costs around $55,000, and the ZR2 costs around $71,495. However, that’s just the starting price, and it can become way higher if you add different options to the pickup.
