King Charles is said to have spent 30 minutes with his son Prince Harry in their first meeting for 16 months.
The monarch, 75, who revealed on Monday (05.02.24) he was suffering an undisclosed form of cancer, met Harry, 39, in London after the Duke of Sussex travelled 5,000 miles from his home in the US to be by his dad’s side as he battles the disease.
A source who saw Charles told The Sun about how he coped during their meeting: “If you didn’t know there was anything wrong with him you wouldn’t know.”
Another Palace source said the King was “on his usual good form”, and “just a little frustrated that his condition has affected not just his own plans but impacted on others”.
Harry’s brother William, 41, did not join his dad and brother – who is said to have been estranged from his older sibling since the publication of his tell-all memoir ‘Spare’ in which he claimed they had a furious fight over his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, 42.
Charles is also said by The Sun to have kept his helicopter waiting so he could personally welcome Harry at his London home Clarence House.
Harry landed at Heathrow at lunchtime following a 10-and-a-half hour overnight flight and was rushed to London while Charles put back a helicopter flight to Sandringham so they could reunite.
A source added to The Sun Charles was “doing very well” and “entirely his normal self”.
Sources also said the king made the “significant” gesture to delay his travel plans after his son travelled to see him at short notice.
Their meeting was thought to have lasted little more than half-an-hour, with Harry and his entourage leaving Clarence House around 45 minutes after arriving.
It was the first time he and Charles had met in private since the death of Queen Elizabeth aged 96 in 2022, but they are understood to have been in telephone contact.
