Former National Conference (NC) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Shahnaz Ganai has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Ganai, who was previously associated with the NC, has now switched her allegiance to the BJP.
The announcement came amidst a flurry of reactions on social media, with Ifra Jan, NC’s social media in-charge, clarifying Ganai’s previous electoral status. Jan pointed out that Ganai had contested as an independent candidate for the District Development Council (DDC) from Mandi, Pooch, in 2020, where she was defeated by NC candidate Attiqa Jan. This clarification aimed to dispel any confusion regarding Ganai’s past political affiliations.
