Blinken's European Diplomatic Tour: Albania And Germany In Focus

Secretary of State Blinken sets off on a new diplomatic tour to Tirana, Albania, and Munich, Germany, mid-February, announced by Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller. Blinken will be away from February 14 to 17, 2024. Albania, a NATO state, is a key partner to the US in the Western Balkans, according to Miller, and an ally in supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Blinken’s goal in Tirana, Miller said, is “strengthening: US relations with Albania. Germany is holding the Munich Security Conference, which Blinken will be participating in as part of the US delegation, led by Vice President Kamala Harris. Blinken will also join a public forum on multilateralism with international partners.

“The Secretary will hold bilateral meetings to underscore the United States’ enduring support for the people of Ukraine, continue discussions with partners on how to achieve lasting peace and security in the Middle East, and highlight our steadfast commitment to transatlantic security,” the statement by Miller said.
