A Slovak museum offers audio guides but no WiFi to visitors

At the Tatras National Park Museum in Tatranská Lomnica, visitors can choose if they want to listen to a lecturer or put on headphones to listen to an audio guide.

The free Smart Guide audio guide for smartphones makes the tour of the museum's exhibits more interesting. It's available in English and Slovak.

Detailed travel guide to the Tatras introduces you to the whole region around the Tatra mountains, including attractions on the Polish side.

Tech buffs can choose from two thematic areas: the natural history exhibition includes 15 stops, the Man in the Tatras exhibition has 14.

"Recently, we have worked intensively to offer people a more modern way of getting to know our museum exhibit," said Maroš Peiger, head of the Department of Science and Research of the Tatras National Park Administration, based in Tatranská Lomnica.

WiFi will be added in future

Since the mobile app works online, the museum would like to provide a WiFi internet connection in the exhibition premises in the future so that visitors can save their own mobile data.

A lecturer is available for those who prefer more traditional forms of presentation.

"Although this is already a paid service, we recommend using this unique opportunity, thanks to which visitors can hear more detailed information and experiences from our nature," added Peiger.

High Tatras are not only for skiers in the winter

In addition, a new price list also came into effect. Compared to last year, the basic entrance fee has increased from €4 to €5. Visitors will pay €8 for a tour with a lecturer (available to a group of seven or more people).
