Bayern Munich coach is not bothered about the pressure after Saturday's defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga table topper and is convinced the team can show a reaction in the Champions League against Lazio.
"We've always shown a reaction after a defeat so far," he said in a news conference on Tuesday after arriving in Rome.
"I'm convinced we have everything to show a reaction. It wasn't enough in Leverkusen. It's also a good chance because it's a new opponent, a new competition, a knockout game. I hope we can make up for it and show the quality we need for a win," he said.
The coach added that he's not bothered about the external pressure and that he sees it as "a big privilege. It's needed to remain confident. It's needed to be critical of yourself."
Captain Manuel Neuer has returned to training and is set to be between the posts in Wednesday's Champions League last 16 match at Italy's Lazio.
Neuer got a rest on Monday after missing all of last week's training with a knee problem before playing in Saturday's 3-0 Bundesliga defeat at Bayer Leverkusen.
"My knee is fine. I have some slight complaints, but not to an extent that I can't train or play. I'm optimistic," he said.
Bayern want to rebound from the domestic loss in Rome, and get a good result for the return leg at home on March 5.
"After a bad experience like Leverkusen it's nice to play again as quickly as possible. We have to remember the success we've had in the Champions League this season and take that with us. We always have to be able to get back up after injuries, after defeats," Neuer said.
Sporting director Christoph Freund struck a similiar note as the team departed, saying he is convinced that the team "will present itself in a different way.
"We are Bayern Munich and there to have success," he said. "We are happy that its continuing right away. It is an important game. We are the favourites but they have nothing to lose and will give their all."
Tuchel is expected to field Joshua Kimmich and also Thomas Müller as starters after being criticized for using them only as substitutes in the second half on Saturday when league leaders Leverkusen were already two goals up.
Asked on whether he would line up a much-criticized back three in defence again, like in the game against Leverkusen, Tuchel said he would not reveal his tactics.
"It's completely normal in football to adapt your formation. It'll be more and more important with how much joy and conviction we play. We chose an aggressive approach at the weekend. You didn't see that long enough from us. We know full well what we're doing tomorrow," he said.
