Prince William returns to public duties with Bafta appearance as Kate continues recovery at home

Prince William returned to public duties tonight as he made a solo appearance at the Bafta award ceremony.

The Prince of Wales walked the red carpet at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

William's wife, the Princess of Wales, did not attend as she continues her recovery process at home.

Princess Kate had abdominal surgery in January and spent two weeks at the London Clinic hospital following the operation.

Prince William is the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

He will watch the award ceremony before meeting category winners and the Rising Star Award nominees.

Prince William was appointed the President of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts in 2010.

William's return to public duties comes after he decided to take a short break from engagements after attending the London Air Ambulance Gala on February 7.

Prince William wore a navy velvet tuxedo jacket with black lapels, paired with black trousers, a bow-tie and a white shirt.

The royal was pictured mingling with celebrities upon his arrival.

William, who is also the President of the Football Association, was pictured greeting England football legend David Beckham warmly.
