Thieves steal gold bars worth more than €100,000 from German home

Five masked burglars stole gold bars worth more than €100,000 ($107,000) from a home in western Germany, police said.

The robbery took place on Sunday afternoon in the town of Kempen, not far from the Dutch border.

The five criminals broke down the front door of the single family house and then forced the 68-year-old homeowner onto a couch.

On the second floor of the house, the thieves grabbed the gold and a small amount of cash. They then fled in a white car.

The owner of the house was unharmed. The police are now appealing for information.
