Supermicro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI) is expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) solutions tailored for edge locations, including public spaces, retail stores, and industrial setups.

The company’s servers are equipped with Nvidia‘s (NASDAQ:NVDA) GPUs (graphics processing units).

Edge AI refers to an environment that allows computations to be done close to where data is collected, rather than at a centralized cloud computing facility or offsite data center.

Supermicro CEO Charles Liang cited the Supermicro Hyper-E server as a standout example.

This server is driven by dual 5th Gen Intel Xeon processors and supports up to three NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs.

Supermicro’s advancements enable users to bypass cloud processing for data, facilitating real-time decision-making at so-called edge locations.

Supermicro’s AI solutions cater to industries like healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and automotive.

The Supermicro Hyper-E server, SYS-221HE, also supports dual socket CPUs and up to three double-width NVIDIA Tensor Core GPUs.

The company has also partnered with Eviden — whose AI-powered retail solution, based on Supermicro edge systems and NVIDIA technologies — enhances the shopping experience through interactive and personalized features.
