'We'll get the best out of him': Mikel Arteta says Arsenal have a 23-year-old with truly 'enormous potential'

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has welcomed Fabio Vieira back into the fold ahead of the Gunners’ return to Champions League action.

The Arsenal boss, speaking at his pre-Porto press conference, admitted he was both happy and sad for the 23-year-old midfielder.

Arteta said he was obviously happy because Vieira is back in training after missing several months following groin surgery in November.

At the same time, the Arsenal boss is sad because the injury halted his momentum at a time when he was going from strength to strength.

Arteta then pledged to “get the best out of” Vieira, as he is a player with “enormous potential”.

The Portuguese talent, who Arsenal signed from Porto for £34million in 2022, was seen back in training on Tuesday.

As per football.london, Vieira has travelled with the rest of the Arsenal squad in the hopes of making his first appearance since November last year.

The same outlet also published quotes from Arteta at his pre-match presser, including on Vieira.

“On Fabio, really happy with him,” he said. “But at the same time sad because just as he was building some momentum he got injured just like last season.

“He’s a player with enormous talent and we will get the best out of him.”

It’s good to hear Arteta praise Vieira and suggest that he’s eager to keep the player at Arsenal in order to bring the best out of him.

In 46 appearances for Arsenal, the 23-year-old has only scored three goals and provided ten assists, so there’s work for him to do.

Now, let’s see whether Vieira gets a runout against his former club in their last-16 first leg at the Estadio do Dragao.
