'It's my best time': 24-year-old Manchester United ace says he's in the form of his career right now

One Manchester United star believes he’s in the best form of his career at the moment.

It’s been a difficult season for Manchester United but there is finally some cause for optimism at Old Trafford.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos Group completed their purchase of 27.7 per cent of the club’s class A shares on Tuesday, heralding a new era as they take over football operations from the Glazers.

There has also been some promising progress on the pitch from Erik ten Hag’s side.

United have won six, drawn one and lost none of their first seven games of 2024 and are gaining ground in the race for a top-four place.

Plenty of players have started to hit a good run of form at the same time and Diogo Dalot is one of them.

In fact, the right-back thinks he’s playing the best football of his career.

Diogo Dalot on his form

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Goal, Dalot said: “Probably it’s my best time individually.”

However, he isn’t satisfied with that as he is more concerned with the team winning matches and trophies than his individual form.

Dalot continued: “But it doesn’t fulfil that spot on my goals because collectively I want to be good and I want the team to be successful.

“So when we combine that, I think I’ll be even happier.”

A good mentality

Dalot is allowed to give himself a pat on the back, he is in a fantastic run of form. It’s even more impressive given he’s come into the side due to an injury to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who took his place last season.

To take a chance when it’s presented isn’t always easy but Dalot has done just that, with his assist for Scott McTominay’s late equaliser against Aston Villa a particular highlight.

It’s a shame that with Luke Shaw likely being ruled out for the rest of the season, Dalot may soon have to move to the opposite flank.

Victor Lindelof will probably fill in at left-back for now but as soon as Wan-Bissaka is fit again, Dalot will likely be drafted to the unnatural flank.

If he can keep his performances up on the left, then he will be doing United a big favour.7
