Zelenskyy HQ briefing on key frontline strategies: Avdiivka defense line and Krynky foothold

The President received updates on the evolving operational situation from Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.

Syrskyi reported on the status of defensive measures, individual offensive operations, and the acquisition and use of ammunition, missiles, and drones.

"Avdiivka represents a new line of defense, involving the reinforcement of positions and insight into the enemy's future intentions,” Zelenskyy said.

“Krynky — our marines are reliably holding the foothold. The enemy was only capable of a disinformation campaign."

Zelenskyy was also briefed on Russia's plans by Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.

A confidential report was dedicated to F-16 fighters, addressing the quantity of aircraft that Ukraine will receive in the initial shipment and the anticipated delivery schedule.

Infrastructure and personnel readiness for the fighters were also discussed.

"We clarified the timetable for further training of pilots and technicians, along with the next reception of aircraft," Zelenskyy said.

Syrskyi reported on Feb. 17 that the Ukrainian army had withdrawn from Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, after four months of intense fighting and regular attacks by the Russian troops. This decision was made to avoid encirclement and to save the lives and health of the soldiers.

The commander of the Tavria troop grouping, Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, reported on Feb. 19 that Ukrainian troops had consolidated their positions on new lines of defense in the Avdiivka front.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed on Feb. 20, that Russian troops had "cleared a bridgehead" on the left bank, allegedly taking control of the village of Krynky.
