GM ISSUES NEW STOP SALE FOR CHEVROLET COLORADO, GMC CANYON

If you’re about to head to a local dealership to get your hands on a new GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, put those plans on hold as General Motors has issued a pause on sales for all of its new midsize pickups after identifying software issues during validation of the vehicles. Luckily, this issue shouldn’t take too long to remedy as the company already has a fix.

Chevrolet Colorado & GMC Canyon Stop Sale: Details

According to The Detroit News, General Motors has already started implementing the fix for its midsize trucks and started sending it to dealers on Monday. The automaker expects the pause in sales, which affected about 15,000 vehicles, to lift soon. GM spokesperson Sean Poppitt stated that there’s always disappointment when sales need to be put on hold, but this is an excellent example of the company’s commitment “to quality and the customer experience.”

Poppitt added that in May 2023, General Motors hired former Apple executive Mike Abbott to lead the new software team, resulting in a “world-class software leadership team” capable of promptly tackling any issues in the short term while building intuitive and great software. This includes redoing the development process. The stop-sale on the General Motors midsize trucks comes when the company is battling software problems on its Blazer EV, which has been under a stop-sale since late December 2023. Though, it’s clear that the issues between the pickups and the Blazer are different.

Luckily, Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon customers won’t have to wait long to get their hands on their midsize trucks, unlike the Blazer. General Motors is determined to get the software right. This is just another prime example of how sometimes adopting more technology into a vehicle can cause more problems, like the microchip shortage that was a common theme right after the pandemic, more isn’t always better. But tech is neat, and we understand why manufacturers put it into their vehicles.
