Quirky comedy in theaters today boasts all-star cast including Pedro Pascal and Matt Damon

The new comedy movie Drive-Away Dolls boasts an all-star cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Miley Cyrus, Matt Damon, and more.

If there’s anybody who knows how to make an amazing crime movie it’s the Coen Brothers. The Academy Award-winning directorial duo has helmed such modern classics as Fargo, Burn After Reading, and No Country For Old Men. As you’ll know if you’ve seen those first two, they’re great at infusing comedy into the mix. Well, Ethan Coen has gone solo for his latest movie Drive-Away Dolls, and it delivers in spades.

Drive-Away Dolls movie is a must-see

Drive-away Dolls is a comedy road movie directed by Ethan and co-written with his wife Tricia Cooke.

The film follows Jamie (played by Margaret Qualley, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), a young woman struggling to navigate a breakup with her girlfriend. Jamie’s good friend Marian (Geraldine Viswanathan, Blockers) is determined to help bring her out of her shell. So, they embark on a road trip to Tallahassee but encounter trouble after finding a briefcase that mobsters are searching for.

It feels like a vintage Coen Brothers narrative with plenty of laughs, an edge, and an incredible cast that includes supporting performances from pop icon Miley Cyrus, Pedro Pascal (The Last Of Us), and Matt Damon (Oppenheimer). If you’re a fan of Fargo then you seriously don’t want to miss out on seeing this in theaters. It was released on Friday, February 23rd 2024.

Not everybody clicks with Ethan’s style of humor, but those who appreciate it really love it—myself included. Despite some detractors, the movie has been certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a critic score of 66%.
