Ukrainian agricultural products damaged for third time at Polish border

Unidentified persons vandalized Ukrainian bean wagons at the Dorohusk railway station.

Ukraine’s national railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, reported the damage to Ukrainian trains carrying agricultural products to Polish law enforcement authorities for the third time.

Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister, described the systematic destruction of Ukrainian agricultural products as “planned sabotage”.

“Our country defends itself and survives thanks to farmers,” he said.

“Those who committed these crimes are definitely not interested in Ukrainian peace and the victory of the civilized world.”

“We call on Polish law enforcement agencies to take immediate action,” he added.

On Feb. 20, Polish protesters blocked the railway near the Medyka - Shehyni checkpoint and emptied grain from wagons. Ukrainian carriers initiated their own protest at three border crossings with Poland in response to the Polish protest actions - Rava-Ruska, Shehyni, and Krakovets.

The Ukrainian government has proposed a five-step “plan of mutual understanding” to Poland to resolve the concerns expressed by protesting Polish farmers who continue to disrupt shipping across the Polish-Ukrainian border, Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal said on Feb. 23.
