Ann Coulter’s “Super Powers” Kick In As Media Opts To Bypass Immigration Status Of Georgia Killer

Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26

The Coulter Corollary was in full effect on Saturday following the tragic and senseless slaying of a nursing student at the University of Georgia.

Last week on HBO’s “Real Time,” conservative pundit Ann Coulter commented on the fatal shooting at the parade in Kansas City as the Chiefs celebrated their Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Contrary to host Bill Maher’s contention, Coulter postulated that the public could guess the identities of the alleged shooters based on the media’s reaction and reporting.

“We have some idea,” Coulter told Maher when he claimed the shooters’ identities weren’t known. “If it were a white man shooting, we’d know.”

When Maher insisted that their IDs were uncertain, even as video of the parade showed whom the police had detained, Coulter added of the media’s silence, “That’s how we know it’s not a white man. I can tell you that much.”

Coulter pointed to the obvious fact that the liberal mainstream media routinely suppresses the identities of violent criminals if they are not white and when it doesn’t suit their demographic narrative.

Some on X this week began calling it “Coulter's Law” or “Coulter's Rule” — and pointed out she had made this argument nearly a decade ago.

What could be called “Coulter’s Corollary” kicked in after cops in Athens, Georgia, on Friday arrested Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, in the murder of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley. Fox News reported Ibarra was caught in El Paso in September 2022 but released into the country after being paroled.

The left-wing media had no problem identifying Ibarra. The issue was reporting that he was an illegal immigrant.

The Associated Press, for example, wrote a 27-paragraph story about the murder and the arrest but noted Ibarra was an “Athens resident” with no mention of his illegal status.

CBS News also noted that he lived in Athens but did not specify any details about his nationality or immigration status.

ABC News reported that the feds charged Ibarra with possessing a fake green card, but also made no reference to his status or nationality.

The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and NBC News, respectively, noted in one sentence in their coverage that Ibarra was not a U.S. citizen, and attributed that to the comments by the local police chief. But all failed to report how or when he entered the country.

The Post chipped in with a second story on Saturday about Riley’s death that focused on the risk of women running alone, since Riley was killed while out jogging. Again, no mention of Ibarra’s status.

NBC News, which put four reporters on the story, spent five paragraphs explaining that Riley was actually a student at Augusta University’s College of Nursing campus in Athens, and not a student at UGA. Still, Ibarra’s immigration status got five words.

At the end of his show on Feb. 16, Maher sarcastically joked that Coulter possessed “super powers” because she could so boldly and assuredly proclaim that the Kansas City shooters were not white.

The New York Post reported that two of the suspects in the parade shooting, which left a woman bystander dead, were black.
