Russian soldiers brutally beat people in Crimea cafe — video

In Crimea, Russian troops brutally beat cafe visitors

The incident took place in the Krepost cafe. The footage shows people in military uniforms insulting civilians, beating them with batons, and shooting in the air and next to people's heads. The attack allegedly took place on the night of Feb. 23-24.

One eyewitness wrote on social media: "My loved one is in serious condition in the hospital... My heart is bleeding from this atrocity."

Later, she told the Important stories news outlet the details of the attack. It is alleged that the two soldiers had a conflict with visitors of the cafe, where they were celebrating on Feb. 23.

"They didn't like something, and they called for reinforcements from the Bears unit," the witness said.

Russian pro-war Telegram channels report that a criminal case has been opened over the attack, but this has not been verified.

Some Russian military channels, citing the military, claim that the initiators of the attack on the café visitors were "harshly punished at the unit level," publishing photos of severely beaten men. Allegedly, the people in the pictures are the initiators of the attack and were beaten by their own comrades.

According to the Krym.Realii news outlet, the volunteer 81st Bears Brigade was created in 2023 in Crimea. It is part of the Redut PMC, which is controlled by the Russian Ministry of Defense, and is allegedly stationed in a military camp in the village of Perevalne.

In addition, instructors from the Bears trained the so-called Crimean People's Militia, allegedly at the request of the Russian "head" of occupied Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov. Aksyonov's adviser Oleg Kryuchkov claimed that the Bears were not connected to the Russian "authorities" of Crimea.
