Football: Minamino leads Monaco to 3-2 win over Lens

Takumi Minamino scored a dramatic injury-time winner Sunday as he led Monaco to a 3-2 victory away to Lens in French football's top flight.

The result lifted Monaco back into third place in the Ligue 1 standings after arriving at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens missing several regular starters through injury or suspension.

Minamino took his season tally to six goals with his contribution in the second minute of stoppage time.

The Japan attacker dribbled into the top right of the box and beat his defender with a step-over before firing past Lens goalkeeper Brice Samba, sparking celebrations among the visiting players and fans.

"(It's an) amazing feeling," Minamino told Monaco's official media. "I'm very happy. I never shoot like that, so I'm also surprised."

U.S. international Folarin Balogun opened the scoring for Monaco before Minamino helped make it 2-0 in the 30th minute by forcing an own goal from Samba with his shot from a tight angle.

Lens hit back almost immediately through Elye Wahi and eventually made it 2-2 when Wesley Said equalized in the 77th minute.

Balogun missed a penalty in the 82nd minute, leaving the match poised for a draw until Minamino's intervention.
