FG opens analytical research lab in Yola

The Federal Government has opened an analytical laboratory of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research for the North East zone.

Inaugurated in Yola on Monday, the laboratory is planned to provide scientific conservation of food for export from the North East.

Speaking for Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Esuabana Asanye, said the ministry is targeting developing the nation’s economy through science and technology.

The minister said the new office in Yola would develop technologies that promote the ideals of entrepreneurship development.

She said the Federal Institute of Industrial Research would open up and boost farming and fishing as well as small and medium-scale enterprises.

Also speaking, the Director General of the Institute of Industrial Research, Dr Jummai Adamu, said the institute is providing a platform for people to excel through the impartation of innovative skills for job creation.

The Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta who also spoke on the occasion, stated the government’s commitment to enabling the environment for a technologically-driven society.

Farauta said the state government has invested hugely in scholarships to students in tertiary institutions for science and technology courses for the good of society.
