'This is how he feels about us': Whoopi sounds the alarm on Trump’s latest brand of racism

Whoopi Goldberg on "The View"

The co-hosts of "The View" started Monday off with a recap of Donald Trump's comments about people of color in speeches over the weekend.

Trump told crowds that he is getting greater support in the African American community because he was indicted four times on 91 charges — implying that people of color now relate to him because he claims he's victimized by the criminal justice system.

The second claim, made by a Fox pundit among others, was about his gold sneakers being extremely popular in the Black community. It was implied that people of color are willing to vote for him because they like sneakers.

"I'm going to say, it's not a shock. I've seen what's gone on in the country in the last several years and the things people have been trying to take away," said Whoopi Goldberg. "This is not surprising to me, and it has never been surprising. Everybody who lived here knew what he was when he got elected."

Her co-host, Sara Haines, confessed that she was shocked by the comments, noting her own surprise that she could still be shocked by Trump.

"We were trying to tell everybody," Goldberg continued. "And every time somebody said, 'Hey, This is really not a good idea.' People got p---ed off. Now you know. So it's up to you. This is in your hands. So either that's who you want for president, or it isn't. It's that simple. If that's the way you want to live with this cat, just know this is — today it's us. Tomorrow, it's you."

Sunny Hostin walked through a list of Trump's racist actions and comments.

And then Goldberg continued: "That's how he feels about us — the other Americans living in the country with him — and that's how he feels about women too," Goldberg continued. "He was gleeful in the destruction of what he did to a woman's right to choose. He was gleeful."

"If this is what you are looking for, that's your dog right there. If it's not, make sure you get out and register yourself to get out and vote and go get people to vote," she closed.
