Volkswagen is recalling more than 260,000 vehicles across five models due to a problem with the suction pump.

The recall was initiated because this faulty suction pump inside the gas tank could leak fuel, posing a fire risk, according to the company.

No incidents have been reported as of Monday in connection with the recall.

Five models of Volkswagen vehicles are included in the recall: including the Golf, Golf GTI, Golf Sportwagen, Jetta and Audi A3 models between 2015 and 2020.

Select model years are subject to the recall, including only front-wheel drive vehicles.

Owners of the affected models can expect to get a letter from Volkswagen mid-April. Anyone who owns a recalled car can take it to their local dealer to get their pumps replaced at no charge.

Customers can call Volkswagen customer service at 800-893-5298 or Audi customer service at 800-253-2834 for more information.
