Driver, 59, killed in I-80 crash in Warren County, cops say

A 59-year-old Monroe County driver was killed Tuesday morning after the car he was driving collided with a box truck along Interstate 80 in Knowlton Township, state police said.

New Jersey State Police told lehighvalleylive.com the crash happened just after 4:15 a.m. at mile marker 2.8. Pasqual Franco of East Stroudsburg was driving a Nissan SUV west when the vehicle became disabled in the in the right lane, state police said.

A Hino box truck driver also traveling west then collided with the rear of the Nissan, according to police. Franco later was pronounced dead at an area hospital, police said.

The box truck driver and a passenger in the Nissan both suffered minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Tuesday’s crash remains under investigation by New Jersey State Police.
