All of the movies hitting theaters this March

After February saw Argylle, Madame Web and Bob Marley: One Love hit theaters, March 2024 promises to be a busy month for film fans with some huge blockbuster movies making their way to screens.

Whether you’re looking for epic sci-fi, a fun-filled family adventure or bone-chilling horror, the month of March has plenty of must-watch movies in store.

Dune: Part Two

Release date: March 1

March begins with what promises to be one of the best movies of 2024 if critics are to be believed.

Following on from 2021’s epic first installment, Dune: Part Two continues the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as he unites with Chani (Zendaya) and Arrakis’s natives, the Fremen, on a quest for vengeance against the Harkonnens and those who conspired to wipe out his family.

Imaginary

Release date: March 8

From horror stalwarts Blumhouse comes a new original story that asks whether childhood imaginary friends are as innocent as we’ve been led to believe. The movie follows Jessica (DeWanda Wise) who moves back into her family home, only for her stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun) to develop an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear she finds in the basement.

Not to be confused with John Krasinski’s IF, a family-friendly move about imaginary friends coming later this year.

Kung Fu Panda 4

Release date: March 8

Jack Black returns to the role of Po for the first time since 2016 in the latest chapter in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. When new shapeshifting villain, the Chameleon (Viola Davis), arrives in the Valley of Peace with the ability to change into any of Po’s past foes, the Dragon Warrior must seek help from a crafty and quick-witted corsac fox called Zhen (Awkwafina).

Cabrini

Release date: March 8

Based on a true story, the film follows Italian immigrant Francesca Cabrini (Cristiana Dell’Anna) who arrives in New York’s slums to find disease, crime and impoverished children. Despite her broken English and poor health, she makes it her mission to convince the hostile mayor (John Lithgow) to secure housing and healthcare for society’s most vulnerable.

Snack Shack

Release date: March 15

Set in the summer of 1991, the comedy follows two inseparable teenage friends, AJ and Moose, who seize the opportunity to run the snack shack at their local pool. With a flair for business, the duo sees this as an opportunity to strike it rich, but matters are complicated when they meet Brooke, an effortlessly cool lifeguard whose presence puts their friendship at risk.

Arthur The King

Release date: March 15

Featuring a star-studded cast including Mark Wahlberg, Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel and Ali Suliman, the movie tells the true story of pro adventure race Mark Light who puts together a team of athletes in a desperate last chance to win the ultimate endurance race, redefining what victory, loyalty and friendship are along the way.

The American Society of Magical Negroes

Release date: March 15

Starring Justice Smith of Jurassic World, Dungeons & Dragons and Detective Pikachu, the film follows a young man named Aren who is recruited into a secret society of magical Black people who work to protect Black people from harm by making white people’s lives easier.

Knox Goes Away

Release date: March 15

Deadly hitman John Knox (Michael Keaton) has recently been diagnosed with dementia and attempts to make amends for his life of bloodshed before it’s too late. Aided by his trusted friend (Al Pacino), Knox races against the police and his own deteriorating mind to save his estranged son (James Marsden) from making a vengeance-fueled mistake.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Release date: March 22

Following the fun-filled Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Spengler family returns to the iconic New York firehouse to start a new ghostbustin’ team alongside the original members. But when a mysterious ancient artifact unleashes an army of ghosts that casts a freezing death chill upon the city in the middle of summer, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to save the world from a new Ice Age.

Sleeping Dogs

Release date: March 22

Russell Crowe stars as ex-homicide detective Roy Freeman in this gripping crime thriller. Suffering from a fractured memory, Freeman is in a race against time to piece together evidence from a brutal decade-old murder while a man’s life hangs in the balance on death row.

Immaculate

Release date: March 22

Rising star Sydney Sweeney leads the cast of this chilling horror movie as Cecilia, an American nun of devout faith, who begins a new journey at a remote convent in the Italian countryside. Despite the warm welcome and picturesque surroundings, Cecilia’s new life proves to be a nightmare as her new home harbors sinister secrets and unspeakable horrors.

Luca (re-release)

Release date: March 22

Following its original release on Disney+ in 2021, Luca is one of several Pixar movies being re-released in theaters this year. Set in a sun-soaked town on the Italian Riviera, where the residents share a deep-rooted hatred of sea monsters, the movie tells the coming-of-age story of a young boy who is secretly one of the sea creatures the townsfolk so deeply despise.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Release date: March 29

And the last of the major movies coming to screens in March 2024 is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

The latest installment in the Monsterverse kickstarted by 2014’s Godzilla, The New Empire sees Godzilla and Kong team up when a new deadly threat is discovered deep within our world. Godzilla x Kong promises to delve further into the histories of these Titans than ever before, uncovering the secrets of their origins and the mythic battle that has tied them to humankind forever.
