Report: Mauricio Pochettino was visibly delighted with one Chelsea player on the touchline in win vs Leeds

Reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino was visibly pleased with what he saw from one Chelsea player during their win in the FA Cup last night.

According to Football London, the boss was obviously appreciative of Mykhailo Mudryk and the effort he was putting in during victory against Leeds at Stamford Bridge.

Mudryk found the net for the first time in 2024 as he scored the Blues’ second goal of the evening in the FA Cup Round of 16.

The night was not plain sailing for Chelsea though, with it taking a last minute Conor Gallagher goal to book their place in the quarter-finals where they will face Leicester City.

The Ukraine international had a strong showing in the first half in particular, where he picked up what was a new position in the team.

He featured in the number 10 role, where he was offered the freedom to float around and crop up in dangerous areas, as well as drop deep to get his foot on the ball.

Pochettino impressed by Mudryk

Pundit Lee Dixon noticed this from an early stage, saying he looked as if he had found his strongest role at the club.

It seems his performance didn’t go unnoticed by the manager either, with it being reported the boss was showcasing his gratitude during the game while on the touchline.

The Argentine also came out after the game tosingle the 23-year-old for praise, although admitted that it has taken time for him to show his best.

It remains to be seen whether he has done enough to convince Pochettino to hand him another rare start in the London derby against Brentford.

He is only going to start putting out more regular impressive performances with more gametime, and this should be something that the manager considers ahead of picking his team.
