A popular DJ’s wife wanted a divorce, so he decided to hire his best man to kill her. Now, both people in the murder-for-hire plot will spend the rest of their lives behind bars.
A Georgia judge recently sentenced Adrian Earl Harley to life in prison for killing Tiffany Jackson Pugh in November 2014, according to WSB-TV. Harley was convicted of murder in the case.
Co-defendant Andre Pugh, who was married to the victim, was convicted in 2018 and also sentenced to life in prison, according to WSB-TV.
Andre Pugh hired Harley, his best friend, to kill his wife, according to media reports. Andre Pugh was a popular DJ in Atlanta, known as “DJ Awesome.”
The Pughs were going through marriage trouble with Andrew Pughs having relationships with other women, according to the South Fulton Neighbor. The couple also had issues paying for their home.
The strife led Andre Pugh to hire Harley for the murder.
“Harley was the best man at Pugh’s wedding and, ironically, Pugh chose Harley to serve as a pallbearer at the young mother’s funeral,” then-Fulton County District Attorney Paul Hopper said in 2018
On Nov. 23, 2014, the two men texted and called before meeting for the murder. Harley entered the home through a back window. He went to where Tiffany Pugh was sleeping and shot her twice.
The shooting triggered the home’s security who contacted Adrian Pugh. He then called 911 from the driveway and said the children were inside the home, according to the South Fulton Neighbor.
Andre Pugh said he believed his wife was shot despite not seeing the body.
Police went to the home and found Tiffany Pugh dead from two gunshots. Her 2-year-old child was lying on top of her, begging and crying for her to wake up. There were other kids also in the home.
The duo was arrested days after the killing in the murder-for-hire plot.
