The German branch of the cosmetics retailer Body Shop will not be closing any stores for the time being, despite the firm's bankruptcy.

"We are not thinking about closing any stores at the moment," the company's provisional insolvency administrator, Biner Bähr, told dpa on Friday.

Business operations will continue as normal for the more than 400 employees in the 63 stores in the country, Bähr said.

Body Shop filed for insolvency in Germany two weeks ago. Bähr said that business operations have been stabilized, and ways are now being sought to restructure the company.

"We are looking for a buyer who will take over all the stores. This will hopefully be completed by the end of April," he said.

Bähr said that Body Shop's future prospects in Germany are ultimately up to the customers: "I hope that they will remain loyal to us, which will of course help with the restructuring efforts."

Body Shop the United Kingdom also recently filed for insolvency. On Thursday, it was announced that 75 of the brand's shops in the UK would close and 489 employees would lose their jobs. Another 116 Body Shop UK locations will remain open.

The Body Shop is currently owned by the German private equity firm Aurelius. The brand was established in 1976 and was one of the first companies to focus on ethically produced cosmetics and skincare products.
