Troy Deeney makes claim about Luis Suarez which Liverpool fans will find absolutely ridiculous - opinion

Troy Deeney is never one to hold back with his opinions and he’s risked Liverpool fans thinking he’s ridiculous with his latest viral clip.

Deeney has took part in the latest craze doing the rounds from TikTok, where the game spits out players and the user then ranks them one to ten without knowing who might be coming next.

Footballers have been getting in on the act with the craze as well and Deeney was the latest to give things a go as he took part in ranking the top ten strikers.

Bizarrely, and without disrespect to the man himself, Deeney went straight in with Andy Cole as number one, putting him above the likes of Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry.

But in an even more bizarre call, Deeney was presented with the option of Luis Suarez, with positions four, seven and ten still available on his list. And remarkably, Topted to put the Uruguayan star at the bottom of his pile, citing how he ‘wasn’t around long enough to be a legend’ as his reason.

Luis Suarez is better than some on Deeney’s list and it’s not even a debate

Of course, this is all a bit tongue-in-cheek and Deeney is entitled to his own valid opinion after being a professional footballer for many a year.

However, to go with Suarez down at number ten behind some of the names on that list is an odd call.

Indeed, despite Cole’s goals at Newcastle and Man United, you could make a strong argument for Suarez going ahead of him. Likewise, the likes of Eric Cantona, Nicolas Anelka and Ian Wright would probably admit themselves they didn’t have the talent of Luis Suarez.

Of course, this is all subjective and Deeney is entitled to put these guys where he wants. Likewise, the game itself throws up names in a random order that can throw you off.

But if any Liverpool fan was playing this, then Suarez would be in the top three without a doubt.

Deeney’s comment on Suarez not being around too long does hold some weight. But in terms of pure ability, and as players like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have commented on in the past, there haven’t been many better in English football.
