Ashley Allen on Selling The Hamptons

Ashley Allen is the newest cast member of Selling The Hamptons. Joining for a “special” season 2 after a brief appearance in series 1, she’s “excited” but says filming was “emotionally stressful”.

Although appearing on the HBO Max show “doesn’t feel real,” fame is nothing new to Ashley. Now 34, she was a singer at 21 who decided to ditch her music career after she “fell out of love with it”.

Ashley, who lives in the Hamptons, told us she is definitely a risk taker, from recently taking in a stray puppy she named Besos, to going on a reality TV show.

“It’s in my nature,” the newbie confessed.

Former pop star to real estate agent

Ashley was a fresh college graduate when she decided to focus on her music career. For five years, she was busy singing in studios, which involved seeing her first single get released in Australia in 2012.

“I’ve always been a performer, but when I made music, radio was a big thing, and Spotify had just come out. I watched myself on TV in music videos and had a song on the radio,” Ashley told us.

Her songs were mainly played in Australia and Indonesia, describing herself as “one of those tracks where people that might have heard this song at a supermarket in 2012”.

She added: “I got into real estate because my dad told me I should get my license. I didn’t know what to do and I decided I needed a break after music, which I worked on for five years after college.”

Ashley hinted while she’s keeping it a secret, she has “found her sound and been in the studio again,” which has been a “really good feeling”.

“I may or may not have a few tricks up my sleeve,” she admitted.

She dishes on scripted rumors

Selling The Hamptons, like any other reality show, has faced speculation that it’s scripted.

Ashley finally shut them down and told us: “No, it is not scripted. Every joke comes straight from me.”

“If it was scripted, and I had to say what they wanted me to say, it wouldn’t be as good,” she joked. Talking about the filming process, Ashley said it was “really intense and “emotionally stressful”.

The reality star added: “It was exhausting, a lot went down. I kept thinking, oh my god, if this is how I feel in this situation, I can only imagine with the person watching will feel.”

Ashley told us filming for season 2 took place a year and a half ago and said she’s “nervous to see what makes it on TV,” adding that it’s a “special” series that people will find “nuts”.
