'Goodbye Boebert!' Congresswoman met with mockery when touting Trump endorsement

Colorado Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert was ridiculed on social media on Saturday as she sought to highlight an endorsement from Donald Trump.

Boebert, a consistent ally to Trump and an occasional foe to fellow lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene, has seen some negative press in recent months. First, she was caught on video groping her date in a public theater. After that, she sought to move districts after it became clear that she was going to lose her contest in 2024.

On Saturday, however, Boebert thought she could turn it around. That's because Trump posted this gushing endorsement to his Truth Social account:

"Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is a Proven Conservative and Effective Leader who delivers for Colorado, and our America First agenda. She has led the fight to Impeach Joe Biden, Stop Illegal Immigration, Defend the Second Amendment, Protect our Wonderful Ranchers and Farmers, Support our Military and Veterans, Secure our Natural Resources to Pursue Energy Dominance, and Stand Up to the Radical Democrats who want to Destroy our Beautiful Country. Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is a trusted America First Fighter, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District!"

Boebert ran with it, posting a screenshot of Trump's message to her own social media.

"It’s my honor to have the endorsement of the greatest President our country has ever known - Donald J. Trump," the lawmaker wrote. "It will be such a privilege to work alongside him in 2024 to deliver results for Colorado & get the entire country back on track!"

The response from commenters was overwhelmingly negative.

A marketing executive named Maile wrote, "You’re never going to win! You abandoned your constituents in CO3 and you’re polling 5th in CO4. Goodbye Boebert!"

Former state senate candidate Christopher Hyre brought up recent criminal charges involving Boebert's son.

"Have a comment on your son robbing a women with brain cancer? How about sleeping with a minor and distributing child pornography according to these reports?" he asked. "These are serious allegations your voters want to hear about."

Mason P. Epeneter, chairman of the Minnesota College Republicans, also took exception to Boebert's framing.

"Abraham Lincoln literally freed the slaves but go off, I guess?" he wrote.
