Watch Prem rival, 21, net worldie in front of esteemed audience amid summer Gers chatter

Rangers-linked Connor Barron netted a stunning long-range goal to get Aberdeen off to the perfect start v St Mirren.

But it wasn’t enough for Neil Warnock to record his first Scottish Premiership win as Dons manager as the club shipped two injury time goals in Paisley.

Crisis is enveloping our northeast rivals – not that there is any sympathy from Ibrox – with all the talk heading into the trip to St Mirren about a potential relegation battle.

After succumbing to a 2-1 defeat, the Dons are certainly making things hard for themselves but Rangers fans will note the Connor Barron wonder strike.

Connor Barron nets Aberdeen wonder goal

Only two minutes into Aberdeen’s trip to St Mirren – which was rather interestingly attended by FIFA boss Gianni Infantino – Connor Barron unleashed a howitzer into the top corner.

A stunning strike, the early screamer v St Mirren gives Rangers fans a glimpse of the talent of the Scotland youth international, 21, who has been strongly mentioned alongside the Ibrox club.

A fine strike it may have been, but the Connor Barron goal was not enough for Aberdeen to record Neil Warnock’s first Premiership victory as Dons manager.

St Mirren staged a heroic injury time comeback, Mark O’Hara equalising from the penalty spot in Paisley before Toyosi Olusanya netted a 97th minute winner.

Rangers linked midfielder out of contract

Out of contract at the end of the season, there’s been plenty of chatter surrounding Connor Barron and a move to Rangers.

Whilst there’s been nothing official to suggest the Ibrox side are interested, a change of agents earlier in the season came alongside rumours of pre-contract interest from Rangers.

With ex-Aberdeen captain and long-serving Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack also out of contract in the summer, plenty view Connor Barron as a natural replacement.

Former Ibrox striker Kenny Miller also discussed all the background chatter earlier in the season, although at the time a lack of appearances for Aberdeen turned Miller off the idea of a Rangers switch.

Yet to sign a new deal at Pittodrie, it certainly looks like Connor Barron could be on the move this summer but going by his latest goal their might be a few suitors.

Rangers fans too will be hoping to avoid another situation like that involving ex-Dons star Lewis Ferguson, who could also be on the move this summer.
