Russia increases police and military presence in occupied Ukrainian territories ahead of sham presidential ‘elections’

Police and reinforced Russian Guard units are being deployed in the TOT and are under the control of the Russian FSB security services.

The main goal of this increased presence is to root out members of the resistance and prevent them from disrupting the upcoming sham "elections" scheduled to take place from Mar. 15 to 17.

The head of Russia's Central Election Commission, Ella Panfilova, said on Dec. 7, 2023, that her agency would consider holding Presidential elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine, including in Crimea and in the occupied parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson oblasts.

The Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry stated that voting in the occupied territories of Ukraine would be illegal and meaningless.
