Huge crocodile suddenly appears in murky water in terrifying display of stealth

A video filmed from a unique angle on a crocodile tour shows just how subtle the frightening animals can be, despite their enormous size.

Just in case you were in need of a reminder – crocodiles are potentially the scariest possible being the animal kingdom has to offer, and, as shown by this viral clip, you probably wouldn’t even know if you were sharing the water with one…

Terrifying crocodile video goes viral

To set the scene – a group of tourists are sitting on a boat in what looks to be Florida, while a tour guide dangles a non-descript slab of meat a few centimeters above the murky water, in the hope of luring in one of the world’s most frightening predators.

Suddenly, the tourists are granted their wish. But what emerges is possibly even more frightening than one could imagine.

The short clip has quickly done the rounds on social media, as the group of Floridians are treated to an unrestricted view of a truly remarkable crocodile – which flexes its muscles as it shimmies out of the Everglades, without producing so much as a bubble in the water in the moments leading up to its emergence.

Reacting to the video on Instagram, one shocked viewer wrote: “I don’t like how that appeared out of nowhere”.

“Now that is truly scary.” Wrote another viewer. “Not a ripple on the water and then it appears.”

“Thanks. New fear unlocked”, added a fellow commenter.

Crocodiles ranked the 5th most dangerous animal in the world

Perhaps unsurprisingly, a fairly recent list of the world’s most dangerous animals ranked crocodiles at number five.

In fact, the more surprising point is probably the fact that there are four animals said to be more dangerous than crocs.

According to travel experts Conde Nast, crocodiles, specifically Saltwater Crocodiles, earn their high place on the list due to the fact that they can grow “up to 23ft” in length, and weigh more than a ton – around the same as a car.

Moreover, crocodiles “are known to kill hundreds of people each year”, and are said to be responsible for more human deaths than sharks.

The only animals to be ranked more dangerous than crocodiles were the Tsetse Fly, Blue-Ringed Octopus, Mosquitos and, in a rather pedantic first place, was human beings.
