Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Elton John, Adele, Rihanna and rapper Everlast are among the many musicians who have vehemently objected to former President Donald Trump using their recordings at his rallies without their permission. Now, according to The Guardian, the estate of the late Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor and Chrysalis Records are demanding that Trump's 2024 campaign "desist from using her music immediately."

Trump has been using O'Connor's 1990 hit "Nothing Compares to You," at his events. Written by Prince, the song was originally recorded in 1985 by a Minneapolis-based group called The Family. But it became much better known when O'Connor's version came out five years later.

In a joint statement, O'Connor's estate and Chrysalis noted that O'Connor was a scathing Trump critic and called him a "biblical devil."

The statement reads, "Throughout her life, it is well known that Sinéad O’Connor lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, fairness and decency towards her fellow human beings. It was with outrage, therefore, that we learned that Donald Trump has been using her iconic performance of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' at his political rallies."

O'Connor's estate and Chrysalis continued, "It is no exaggeration to say that Sinéad would have been disgusted, hurt and insulted to have her work misrepresented in this way by someone who she herself referred to as a 'biblical devil.' As the guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates desist from using her music immediately.”

The politically outspoken O'Connor was 56 when she died in London, her adopted home, on July 26, 2023.
