'The best': Jermaine Jenas says nobody in the world is better than £54m Man City player

Jermaine Jenas believes Kevin De Bruyne is the best player in the world bar none.

Despite being injured for the majority of the ongoing season, De Bruyne’s status in world football does not seem to have changed even slightly.

The fact that such is the case is an indicator of how outstanding a body of work the Manchester City maestro has produced, as perhaps several players would be written off if they had suffered a major injury at 32.

Jermaine Jenas says Kevin De Bruyne is “the best footballer on the planet”

In February, Nathan Ake expressed how impressive it is that the Belgian captain has looked as brilliant as he has, despite missing months and months of football.

Even before the £54 million (The Mirror) man’s return from injury and his devastating impact ever since, Roy Keane backed him to give City an edge over the rest in the Premier League title race.

When Jermaine Jenas was asked which player is currently the best in the world, he named Kevin De Bruyne.

“I still think Kevin De Bruyne is probably the best footballer on the planet”, Jenas said about De Bruyne while speaking to GOAL via TikTok.

Kevin De Bruyne could have a legacy-defining moment like Virgil van Dijk this season

When Virgil van Dijk scored a late winner to win Liverpool the Carabao Cup against Chelsea, it seemed like a legacy-defining moment in his career.

The Dutch skipper had redeemed himself to become one of the best centre-backs in the world once again while winning a Reds side full of academy players a trophy against one of the biggest clubs in England.

If Kevin De Bruyne manages to win the Premier League or the Champions League this season, he is likely to play a huge role in the process.

But considering the injury De Bruyne suffered alongside his age and the fine margins that define such competitions, the 2023/2024 season could go down as one for him that is often discussed by the masses long after his retirement, as would likely be the case with Van Dijk.
