Queen Camilla gets into the glitz and glam during royal outings, but what many people don’t know is she refuses to get her ears pierced, and actually wears clip-ons.
Since King Charles announced he had been diagnosed with cancer, Queen Consort Camilla has been stepping up and carrying out royal duties on behalf of her husband. Eyes around the world will see her pearly jewels dangling from her ears, but many are unaware she’s never had them pierced.
Queen Camilla ‘refuses’ to get her ears pierced
Just before the King’s Coronation, in May 2023, the Palace released 100 ‘fun facts’ about the new King and Queen Consort, one of these being about Her Majesty’s ears.
“Her Majesty does not have her ears pierced, instead choosing to wear clip-on earrings,” the royal website states.
Although it’s the first time people may have heard this ‘fun fact’ it’s not the first time the Queen has spoken out about her decision.
“No, I’m not going to give it to myself for a 75th birthday present,” she told British Vogue before her big day.
“[The grandchildren] will try to persuade me, but nothing’s going to pierce my ears,” she continued.
Camilla has five grandchildren through her son and daughter, Tom Parker-Bowles and Laura Lopes, as well as five more from Prince William and Prince Harry.
The Queen recently wore a pair of ‘mismatched’ earrings
In January, the Queen stepped out for several visits in Swindon, and eagle-eyed members of the public noticed she was wearing ‘mismatched’ earrings.
However, the 76-year-old didn’t get dressed in the dark, in fact, it was a fashion statement.
Alongside her camel Anna Valentine coat, khaki jumper, and tartan skirt, the Queen Consort jazzed up the look with two different jewels. On her left ear was a trusty pearl pendant clip-on, which she first debuted at her wedding in 2005.
On her right ear was a gold earring which was encrusted with gems. Whilst wearing the different jewelry, Camilla was visiting a 175-year-old family-run jewelry store in Wiltshire, which could explain the fashion choices.
Either way, she rocked it!
